Sunflowers at Dubai Miracle Garden

Sunflowers are at the core of the Dubai Miracle Garden, especially; in its 2017/2018’s season. These magnificent flowers at the garden gloriously shine, glow and follow the sun on forever sunny days of Dubai. Their highly vibrant yellow color is a direct attraction for the visitors of the Miracle Garden. Since its inception in 2012; the Dubai MIracle Garden has always astonished and inspired visitors through its sun, desert and miracle theme and now these Sunflowers are an added attraction for its visitors. There is no flower bigger than the sunflowers at the Dubai Miracle Garden because they are the tallest and biggest flowers at the garden. Most importantly in its 6th season of 2017-2018, the Dubai Miracle Garden has already declared Sunflowers as their main flower theme and represented themselves as the “Sunflower Lovers”.

Sunflowers are planted throughout the flower beddings of the Dubai Miracle Garden. In the season 6, visitors can witness that the Sunflowers are everywhere at the Dubai Miracle Garden as they can follow them on a never-ending passage of the garden. Almost every floral theme at the Dubai Miracle Garden has sunflowers at its outer flowerbeddings. Sunflowers are like the border color of for most of the floral themes of the Dubai Miracle Garden. Giant Swans, teddy bear, ants colony, floral bungalows, Airbus A380 etc. are all decorated with the flower beddings of sunflowers at their outer borders. Therefore; one way or another Sunflowers are the part of each and every floral theme at the Dubai Miracle Garden.

According to the authorities of the Dubai Miracle Garden there are a total of 45 million flowers within the garden (Season 2017/2018). Even though no direct word about the estimated numbers of sunflowers is given by the authorities of the Dubai Miracle garden, but we can easily make our rough estimations about their numbers. Apart from Petunia flowers, sunflowers are the second most planted flowers at the Dubai Miracle Garden. Even if there are 10% of the total flowers, we can safely assume that there should be at least 5 million sunflowers at the garden. And let’s don’t forget that each sunflower has around 1000 to 2000 seeds, therefore; at the end of the season we can witness billions of sunflower seeds too at the Dubai Miracle Garden.

Sunflowers are available in dozens of varieties and the Dubai Miracle Garden has tested at least 15 varieties of Sunflowers before planting them throughout the garden. According to the Founder and Creator of the Dubai Miracle Garden Mr. Abdul Naser Rahhal; having sunflowers was a big challenge at the Dubai Miracle Garden and at least he tested 15 varieties of the sunflowers before selecting the right ones for the garden. In an interview to Khaleej Times, Abdul Naswer Rahhal told that Sunflower is just a big class name of the sunflowers and under its umbrella there are a great variety of sunflowers. He specifically pointed at a smaller sunflower class at the Dubai Miracle Garden and named that sunflower variety as a dwarf one (Also know as Happy Smile Sunflowers variety within the dwarf category). Most of the sunflowers which we have witnessed at the Dubai Miracle Garden seemed to be Helianthus Paradoxus species of sunflowers. Apart from the dwarf variety of the Sunflowers, other Sunflowers are the tallest and visibly the biggest flowers at the Dubai Miracle Garden.

According to many garden experts, Sunflowers are must for any garden because they bring a lot of advantages for its life. Being the top-notch flowers experts the Dubai Miracle Garden has fully realized their such attribute and integrated integrated them within the garden. Let’s briefly explore advantages of bringing these sunflowers to the Dubai Miracle Garden from the authorities’ perspective.. The first and foremost advantage of the Sunflowers for the Dubai Miracle Garden is that they boost the pollination at the Garden. The Dubai Miracle Garden is a garden of flowers and for flowers having a streamlined pollination is a must thing. The presence of the Sunflowers boosts the process of pollination by attracting more and more pollinating bees especially the honey bees. Similarly; these Sunflowers also attract a lot of birds as well and we have already witnessed birds roaming freely around the garden life of the Dubai Miracle Garden. Therefore; with the presence of the Sunflowers the nature is best at the Garden and in this case the nature is at super best at the Dubai Miracle Garden.

Another big advantage of having sunflowers for the Dubai Miracle Garden is that they have one of the longest blooming life-cycle as compared to the other flowers. So, one can watch a sunflower within its finest look for many weeks as compared to other types of flowers. Therefore; a single sunflower just stays bloomed for many weeks and a lesser degree of hassle is required to manage and maintain them at the garden. Sunflowers are perhaps easiest to grow at any garden. In all the pictures which we have witnessed so far on social media e.g, instagram and facebook etc. the Sunflowers were one of the few flowers of the Dubai Miracle with whom the visitors specifically took selfies or photographs even in the absence of any floral theme or sculpture. Therefore; when it comes to the attraction of the flowers, the sunflowers are the most dominant ones for the visitors of the garden. Sunflowers are also the symbol of happiness and it wouldn’t be wrong to conclude that they undoubtedly bring happiness to the visitors of the Dubai Miracle Garden.

The only limitation of the Sunflowers at the Miracle Garden is that they are not directly the part of any floral sculpture. They are only at the boundaries of the floral themes just like their borders at the Dubai Miracle Garden. Sunflowers are very tall and integrating them within any theme can be very challenging. Unlike Petunia flowers which are planted horizontally and in many directions within the floral themes, if we plant sunflowers horizontally, they will tilt lower and will never make any great impact. Another possible reason for sunflowers being not the direct part of any floral theme is that they have very long roots while the floral themes usually offer less space for the penetration of the roots underneath, therefore; their integration within the floral theme also looks very difficult. As a result of that they are planted within the flower-beddings of the garden. But do remember that Dubai Miracle Garden is famous for making miracles happen and we may expect any impossible to be easily accomplished by them
